What is a semiconductor quantum computer?

A semiconductor quantum computer refers to a quantum computing physical system built on the foundation of realizing qubit encoding with gated semiconductor quantum dots. At extremely low temperatures, the discrete energy levels in quantum dots feature quantum properties and can be used to encode the two-level system required for quantum computing. According to the type, encoding qubits can be categorized into charge qubits, spin qubits, and hybrid qubits. Because of the ultra-long spin relaxation time and decoherence time, spin qubits can achieve extremely high manipulation fidelity and is the major object of our research.
